A Fantastic Weekend that Must Be Shared

Wow.  It has been an unusally great weekend.  So great in fact I feel the need to share it with you.

It started on Thursday with Jackson’s birthday party.  He turned 7 a month ago but we are just now getting around to having a party for him…we’re horrible parents…but the party was awesome.  It was at our local community pool.

Friday and Saturday were filled with working in the yard (one of my favorite things to do) cleaning up from the party, and getting ready for Sunday.  We finally got some flowers planted in our pots. The process was stalled this year by my broken leg.

On Sunday the kids and Wendy surprised me with homemade beignets for breakfast.  They were awesome.  I don’t think I’ve had any since moving away from New Orleans in 1997.

They were awesome; but we forgot to turn on the fan at first so the house filled with smoke from the boiling oil.  At one point we all fled the house to the back porch because our eyes were burning from the smoke.  Next on Sunday morning Jude and his cousin Luke were dedicated at Valley.

In the middle of the dedication the congregation broke out into a rousing rendition of Hey Jude.  It was really fun.  Finally on Sunday there was the traditional Elkins / Sales / Burgess Father’s Day party.

Fun times were had by all.  As I said, it was a great weekend…and only getting better.  Today I’m working with a mission team from Texas at a local public school and then the Thingy tonight is meeting in a park.   Will the mad fun never end?  Only time will tell.

  1. Becky says:

When did you guys get a new couch? And in other news, Aunt Becky is totally lame because she has now missed each of the kids’ birthday parties (minus Jude because he hasn’t had his birthday yet and I was at the hospital the day BEFORE his birth day). Sad times. =(
